Off to the Races

Fig. an expression characterizing the activity or excitement that is just beginning; [we are] leaving for something interesting or exciting.

Most of the time beginnings excite me. The onset of a new season, the birth of a new friendship, pressing open the pages of a new book so a groove emerges in the spine.

Internal commotion begins when expectations loom large. I admit to trembling like a jello jiggler under the summer sun.

From where do my expectations come from?

  1. The family I cherish.
  2. Complete strangers that dictate what I should consume and possess.
  3. The conviction that I’ve failed before I’ve even begun.

The more relevant question is, where does my *help come from?

  1. My creator.
  2. My guardian.
  3. The One who gives me hope when I’ve failed.
  4. The One who holds 2014 in His powerful, loving hands.

*I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.  Psalm 121:1-2 NASB

  1. I know exactly what you mean, Jenni…trembling like a jello jiggler. Spot on! :) Perfect verse as an antidote.

  2. Thanks Meghan. So happy to see you here.
